Hotel Duquesa

Experiencing Mexico, wether you are from abroad or were born here, is becoming a luxury these days; the true essence of our culture is lost by more "modern" concepts. Most visitors looking for accommodations tend to be disappointed by when their villa isn't really very different from what they have at home. Yet there is always an exception, a haven so to speak, where one can still experience the authenticity, the true flavors of Mexico and its regional beauty during their stay. In Bucerías this haven is Hotel Duquesa , a beautiful 3 villa hotel which maintains and represents the beauty, culture and flavor of Banderas Bay.

Nestled amongst palm trees and bugambilias on Bucería's quiet south side only one block from the beach, Hotel Duquesa offers its guests lush gardens, kept in traditional Mexican Pacific style, with coconut palms, ferns and other exotic local vegetation neatly displayed throughout the grounds, surrounding a beautiful swimming pool and adjoining jacuzzi. The gardens are alive with exhibited local wildlife, such as a family of ducks and a resident macaw as well as other pet birds, humming birds and geckos. A large palapa peers over the vegetation in front of the pool, like a mayan pyramid peering above the jungle trees.  A small roofed terrace adjacent to the pool is perfect for cooking an outdoor meal. There are hammocks, lawn chairs and tables to accommodate all who choose to lounge in the garden area. All the decor is in authentic Mexican Pacific Coast style.

The Hotel has 3 levels, each a Villa with a master bedroom that has its own bathroom, jacuzzi, ample closet and widescreen cable Television; another bedroom also with its own bathroom and television; a large living room, kitchen and terrace with an ocean view and hammocks. The interior decor is as beautiful as it is comfortable, the floors are set in adobe tiles which keep every room fresh, even during the hottest summer months. The architecture is all in Mexican Pacific Coast style, with huge windows and doorways that allow for natural light throughout the villa, while keeping the heat outside. The lush vegetation keeps direct sunlight to a minimum and invites cool breezes to enter the villas.

Atop the Villas is a large terrace with a grand palapa overlooking Banderas Bay and the gardens. The palapa itself houses a bar area perfect for rooftop get-togethers and parties. Sunsets viewed from the palapa area are particularly breathtaking.

Comfort, relaxation and authenticity are just a part of what Hotel Duquesa has to offer. There are no words or photographs that could possibly do this beautiful little boutique hotel justice. One must experience it and attest to its quality in person. A taste of a true mexican holiday in Banderas bay, the perfect setting for those who not only wish to visit the Mexican pacific, but to truly experience it.
